About Us
The Williams County Humane Society exists to reduce animal suffering in Williams County, Ohio, and to improve outcomes for companion animals through direct intervention, education, and community services.
We take in lost, abandoned, and surrendered animals from across the county. From the moment they arrive, our focus is the same: stabilize, medically evaluate, and prepare them for a permanent home. Adoption is not an afterthought—placement is built into our intake workflow from day one.
We provide:
- animal intake and temporary sheltering
- spay/neuter prior to adoption whenever medically appropriate
- vaccinations, microchipping, and basic veterinary care
- screening and counseling for adopters to increase long-term placement success
- education for the public on responsible ownership, animal welfare laws, and prevention of cruelty
Our operation depends on local support. While we collaborate with local authorities and veterinarians, the majority of our funding is raised from within the community. Every adoption fee, donation, and volunteer hour translates directly into on-the-ground capacity: more kennels, more medications, more saved animals.
Our goal is measurable: fewer animals suffering in Williams County.
That means fewer strays, fewer owner surrenders due to preventable circumstances, and more animals in stable homes.
We’re not just trying to “do good.” We are trying to change the baseline of what is normal in our county for animal treatment and animal care. We measure progress by lives saved, cruelty prevented, and the number of animals who leave our doors with somewhere safe and permanent to go.
